The last time I checked, there were no “Financial Planning” lessons in today’s school curriculum.  Even less likely, a class on “How to use your Credit Card” or “What Does ‘Interest Rate’ Mean?”

So how are our kids learning about money and how to manage it?  I know I’m one of the worst candidates for giving my young son any kind of financial advice, unless it’s the usual parenting classic of “do as I say, not as I do,” and we all know how much attention children pay to that line!

Many adults learn how to manage their money the hard way, after they’ve accumulated a pile of debt. Some adults never learn it at all, but wouldn’t it have been great to have been given those vital financial tools when we were kids?
